About the Event
Obstructive sleep apnea is a common disorder that can lead to cardiovascular disease, impaired cognition, and poor quality of life. Dentists and hygienists are in a unique position to help identify patients at risk and guide patients to care that may not only improve their lives, but mitigate serious consequences that can shorten life expectancy.
This evidence-based program will provide an overview of dental sleep medicine including signs and symptoms of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, it’s consequences and co-morbidities. Treatment options will be reviewed including oral appliance therapy. Paediatric obstructive sleep apnea will also be discussed. Current guidance regarding the role dentists in managing obstructive sleep apnea and snoring with oral appliances will be reviewed.
